GEAR WEST SEMINARS

POSTED NOVEMBER 19, 2009

Hi Gear West University Participants! Thanks for spending your Sunday with us, I hope you got a lot out of the seminars.

Unfortunately the computer program I use doesn't have images of all the stretches, so I wrote a couple out at the end. I also don't have a lot of control over the model's form in the picture and in several of them there are common mistakes that people make while stretching.  I tried adding descriptions to correct this each time I saw it so please read the text versus going on pictures alone.  Thanks for coming and if I can help you with injury prevention or injury management in my chiropractic office I would love to help.

CROSS COUNTRY SKI INJURY-FREE WITH DR. LORI'S STRETCHING PROGRAM

POSTED NOVEMBER 19, 2009

Thanks to those for coming to our cross country skiing stretching workshop on November 11, 2009.

Unfortunately I can't modify the stretching examples in the PDF file to make them how I want them, so read the notes I wrote at the end of the descriptions.

Here are some other tips:

  • Get the lightest weight poles possible; your rhomboid muscles (the ones between your shoulder blades) will thank you. Strengthen your core - every motion we do is generated here AND stronger core=more propulsion. Relax your shoulders as much as possible while skiing (sounds impossible, right? It's not.) Keep them away from your ears.
  • Avoid poking your chin out. You won't get there faster and, by some odd stretch if you do, you will damage your spine eventually.

Listen to your body and see your chiropractor before starting any stretching program
